The UMMC Neuro Institute Pilot Research Grant program seeks to support the development of innovative, cutting-edge research across the spectrum of basic, translational, clinical and population-based neuroscience, and facilitate development of collaborative teams of basic scientists, clinicians, and other health care professionals from multiple departments, schools and/or disciplines. The program will be administered as a subset of the UMMC Intramural Research Support Program (IRSP) – all requirements for IRSP proposals will be adhered to, with slight modifications as described below. The highest priority for awards will be for those projects that are most competitive for future extramural funding. Applications in basic, translational, clinical and population-based neuroscience are solicited in one cycle each year.
A NIPRG provides support in the form of a 12- to 24-month award of $30,000 or less to members of the UMMC faculty (assistant professor or above) or to affiliate faculty to pursue a research project. All funds must be spent at UMMC.
