The MCCTR Pilot Projects Program supports clinical, translational and population-based research projects on all major diseases that impact Mississippians and that can become the basis for competitive extramural funding applications. Thus, major criterion for review of these applications will be competiveness for extramural funding if pilot grant funding is awarded. The program is designed to promote multi-institutional and multi-disciplinary collaboration, and to ensure equitable and productive distribution of research support across the MCCTR partner institutions-the University of Mississippi Medical Center, University of Mississippi, Mississippi State University, Tougaloo College and the University of Southern Mississippi.
Letters of Intent for the next funding cycle are due 10/25/2023. Full applications will be due 01/15/2024. Projects should plan to have a start date no earlier than 03/01/2024. Investigators, whose letter of intent are accepted, will be asked to meet with representatives from our Research Services Center and Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design Cores. Eligible applicants include faculty members from partnering institutions- UMMC, UM, MSU, Tougaloo College, or USM, who are not current or previous principal investigators of a P01- or R01-type NIH grant or equivalent National Science Foundation Grant.
Letters of Intent should be submitted via the MCCTR's Letter of Intent RedCap survey. Full applications should be in PDF format and submitted to MCCTR@umc.edu.
