The Center of Bioethics and Medical Humanities is the locus for developing and implementing ethics and professionalism education for a wide variety of students at UMMC. Patrick Hopkins is continuing his work in developing and teaching a comprehensive ethics education program for medical students, with distinct curriculum-relevant content and skills training for M1, M2, M3, and M4 classes. M1 and M2 modules have already been instituted. M4 electives have also been taught. M3 and Residency modules are being developed for the future.
Community
The centerĀ is committed to the Jackson and wider Mississippi community in providing interesting, informative, and valuable programs in ethics, medical humanities, medical law, and the arts. We have various programs throughout the year that are open to the public, but our staff and faculty also go around the state to give talks, demonstrations, art exhibits, health exhibits, and to gather your opinions and stories. We would be happy to work with you and your organization to provide speakers, develop topics, or whatever you need.

The center provides a variety of certified, flexible, and tailored continuing education opportunities for professionals of all types - physicians, nurses, lawyers, clergy, psychologists, counselors, and teachers.
