Physiologist claims UMMC's top educator honor
In the lab, classroom and community, Dr. Mike Ryan has dedicated his time to training young scientists. On Tuesday, UMMC presented the Regions TEACH Prize, the institution’s highest honor for educational excellence, to Ryan during a ceremony that recognized UMMC's 2019 Nelson Order inductees.

Heart-liver transplant one for UMMC history books
Davis Beasley’s heart was giving out, and that put so much strain on his liver that it, too, was failing. The UMMC patient’s only option was a heart-liver transplant, a rare procedure performed only 35 other times this year in the U.S. Two transplant teams – one heart and one liver – performed the life-saving procedure on Nov. 15.
