Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit

Patients at the UMMC Stroke Center, who have undergone procedures like clot retrievals and thrombolytic treatments, are directed to our Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit for recovery.

This 20-bed unit is staffed by neurointensivists—specially trained physicians with advanced expertise in caring for patients with neurological conditions, including strokes. These providers are dedicated, trained, and certified to administer advanced neurological care.

Along with these providers, the nursing staff possess specific expertise in stroke recovery and prevention. The patients in this unit require frequent monitoring and neurological checks to ensure safety from potential adverse reactions. All patients in this unit are continuously connected to central monitors, keeping them under constant observation for enhanced care.
