To ensure stroke patients at UMMC consistently receive the best possible care, the Stroke Center voluntarily participates in the American Heart Association's "Get With the Guidelines®" recognition program. The program measures how closely a hospital’s stroke care matches national recommendations based on the latest research. Hospitals participating in the program submit required data to a registry for comparison to these standards.
UMMC achieved Honor Roll Elite Plus status for the fastest "door to treatment" time. This recognition is for ischemic stroke care. It measures the "door-to-needle" time for patients being treated with thrombolytics, or "clot buster" medication. Honor Roll Elite Plus is the highest recognition level in this category. It is earned by hospitals that began treatment for 75% or more of patients in 45 minutes or less AND for 50% of patients in 30 minutes or less.
UMMC has achieved the Gold Plus level for at least 10 consecutive years. This award recognizes hospitals that achieve at least 75% compliance with all stroke measures. UMMC exceeds the requirements for this award. Currently, we have achieved Gold Plus level for 11 straight years with 85% compliance.
