Stroke Wellness and Rehabilitation

The UMMC Stroke Center provides a variety of services promoting wellness and rehabilitation for stroke patients.

Community education

Lack of public knowledge regarding stroke puts Mississippians at an even higher risk for the often fatal condition. UMMC Stroke Center works with and seeks community partners to provide stroke education. One example is the Jackson-area stroke support group for stroke survivors and caregivers. This group is supported by local stroke centers and meets via zoom monthly. Anyone is welcome to attend. Learn more about the Stroke Support Group. The American Heart and Stroke Association also provides excellent information for patients and caregivers throughout all stages of stroke rehabilitation.

Rehabilitation

While education helps prevent strokes, proper medication, rehabilitation, and follow-up care are vital components to recovery. After-care is provided by physicians at University Physicians Pavilion and Riverchase Clinic.
