Volunteer Services

University of Mississippi Medical Center volunteers play an important role in helping to provide quality, compassionate care to patients.

Volunteers make a commitment to serve once a week for 2-4 hours for a minimum of 3 consecutive months. Prospective volunteer are strongly encouraged to consider the time commitment, consistency, and dedication necessary to make the volunteer experience beneficial to both you as a volunteer and to the patients, families, and hospital staff we serve.

While we do not offer opportunities for clinical exposure or shadowing hospital staff, volunteers support patients, families, and staff through various service assignments throughout the adult and Children's hospitals.

Benefits of volunteering with UMMC:

  • Sense of accomplishment
  • Meet new people
  • Career exposure
  • Learn new skills
  • Be involved in your community
