Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Clinic

Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) is a group of conditions that affect the connective tissues in your body, which are like the “glue” holding everything together. These tissues support your skin, joints, blood vessels and organs. People with EDS often have very flexible joints, stretchy or fragile skin, and may bruise or injure easily. Some types of EDS can affect the blood vessels or heart. A proper diagnosis helps manage symptoms and ensures your care is tailored to your needs.

The Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) Clinic provides comprehensive care for patients with EDS and related conditions. Our clinical team includes our medical doctor/clinical geneticist, genetic counselor and genetics nurse.

During your visit, we will take a detailed family history, perform a thorough physical examination and offer genetic testing to identify or rule out serious EDS diagnoses, such as vascular EDS. Our goal is to ensure an accurate diagnosis and help you manage your condition effectively.

We also collaborate with UMMC physical therapists specializing in EDS management to improve mobility, strength, and quality of life.
