Honor a Caregiver

Caring for patients is the honor and purpose of every caregiver who walks the halls at UMMC. Through their dedication and skill, they are touching people’s lives, in immeasurable ways, every day. 

Many of our buildings, equipment, and research programs are here because of the generous support of patients who are grateful for the life-changing care they received at UMMC. Thanks to their contributions, UMMC will provide care for generations to come. 

The Grateful Patient program allows individuals to express their gratitude, through both their stories and donations, for the exemplary care they or their loved ones received at UMMC. If you’ve been inspired by your experience at UMMC, there are several ways you can pay it forward through the Grateful Patient Program. 

Share your story of gratitude 

Please consider writing a quick note or sending thanks to the people who helped you. Your note will be shared directly with the people you choose and also with their supervisors. Click here to complete the short form. 

Honor your caregiver with Healthcare Hero Lapel Pin 

Recognize a UMMC healthcare provider who made a difference in your life by honoring them with a Healthcare Hero lapel pin. Your Healthcare Hero will receive the lapel pin, along with a special note from you, in appreciation for the excellent care you received. If you are interested in honoring a provider for his or her service, simply make a gift of any size ($50 minimum). The gift amount will not be shared with the recipient. Every gift is gratefully appreciated and used to enhance critical needs at UMMC.

1. In the field titled, “Designate Your Area of Support (ex. Cancer, Pediatrics)” please enter “Healthcare Hero Lapel Pin.” 
2. Select the box next to “Make a Gift in Honor of a Healthcare Physician,” then enter the name of the healthcare provider you wish to honor. (You may honor a caregiver in any role.) 
3. Select and complete “Please notify the following person of my gift,” if you wish your honoree to receive notification in the mail. 

To include a special note with the lapel pin, please click here to also complete the Grateful Patient Story Form. Please note in your comments that you are donating a Healthcare Hero lapel pin to ensure your message is presented with the pin. 

Become a member of the Gratitude Club  

The Grateful Patient Program offers patients, and families, of loved ones, an opportunity to become a member of the Gratitude Club. By making a minimum monthly donation of $25 or more, members are helping further the mission of UMMC to create a healthier Mississippi. Gratitude Club members will be included in an annual reception featuring members from the UMMC leadership team, as well as regular updates about current and future plans for the medical center.
