Nursing Alumnus of the Year Award

Each year, the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Nursing Alumni Board presents the Nursing Alumnus of the Year Award. The recipient is selected by a committee comprised of members of the Nursing Alumni Board. This award recognizes a UMMC School of Nursing alumna/alumnus who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, excelled in service to others, and made significant contributions to the UMMC School of Nursing, the nursing profession, or health care.

To be considered as a nominee for this award, the candidate shall have:

  • Graduated from the UMMC School of Nursing baccalaureate program, the master’s program, or the doctoral program. This includes graduates from both the Jackson and Oxford campuses.

  • Demonstrated outstanding leadership and service as an alumna/alumnus for UMMC School of Nursing (cite leadership indicators and data to support)

  • Demonstrated leadership to the profession of nursing (cite evidence of leadership to the profession with any pertinent publications, employment, organizations, service and awards)

  • Demonstrated leadership to overall healthcare in the community (cite evidence of leadership to overall healthcare and how nominee has worked with others to better health care)
