Our Work
Site Visit
What's the purpose of a site visit? Our Coordinating Center, the University of Michigan's Institute for Firearm Injury Prevention, is interested in how things are going with the violence prevention work. Teresa Neuman with the Community Firearm Prevention Network (CFVP) answers, "As the Coordinating Center, we are simply trying to better understand how these partnerships work on the ground. We want to learn from your experience so that other groups doing similar work can learn from you. We know that working in large groups means not always agreeing with your partners, we welcome an open discussion of those moments as well in this focus group. We'll be asking questions about how your partnership began; what the partnership is like; some ups and downs of the partnerships; and what we have to learn moving forward. When we refer to the academic side of the partnership, we mean partners who work at [University]. When we refer to the community side of the partnership, that's all of you and others who do not work for the University [of Mississippi Medical Center]."
