Main ContentWhat Participants Can Expect
If you agree to participate in the study, you will be invited for an initial appointment at the Gertrude C. Ford MIND Research Clinic located at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi, where the exam will be conducted. After the initial appointment and following enrollment in the study, participants will be invited to return for a follow-up exam approximately every 15 months. If needed, transportation or taxi vouchers will be provided. Exam visits may be 4 to 6 hours long and participants are compensated for their time.
The study exams will include:
- Assessment of health, family, and medication history
- Assessment of daily home life, self-care, sleep, and routine activities
- A physical exam including walking, strength, and balance tests
- Evaluation of thinking and memory skills
- Blood and urine testing
- Brain imaging (MRI/PET scans) may be offered, if eligible
Participants will be provided with clinical exam results to share with their health care provider, if desired. All of the information that participants share with The MIND Center is confidential and will be used for research purposes only.
