What is heart failure?

The advanced heart failure program at University Heart provides comprehensive, compassionate care for patients with all stages of heart failure. Our team of specialists provides care from the onset of congestive heart failure symptoms through long-term management of chronic heart failure, to left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation or heart transplantation.

We offer the only heart transplant program and LVAD program in the state, and our team of cardiologists are board-certified in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology.

Our LVAD program has earned The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approvalâ„¢ for ventricular assist device therapy.

  • Amyloidosis
  • Pulmonary Hypertension (PH)
  • Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy (HOCM)

The advanced heart failure program at University Heart utilizes a multidisciplinary team to provide excellent care based on patient and family needs. Our team is able to care for each patient from diagnosis of heart failure and throughout their lives.

  • Outpatient Clinical Pharmacist
  • Heart Failure RN Coordinators

We also utilize other providers and support services in order to meet all patient and family needs.

Where are we located?

We see patients in the inpatient and outpatient setting.

Our Advanced Heart Failure clinic is located at the UMMC Pavilion in Suite C. We perform procedures and diagnostic imaging at University Heart.
