Child Safety and Wellness
Safe Kids Mississippi (Injury Prevention)
Around the world, a child dies from an unintentional injury every 30 seconds. Millions more children are injured in ways that can affect them for a lifetime. Safe Kids is a global organization dedicated to preventing injuries in children, and Children's of Mississippi is the lead agency for Safe Kids in Mississippi.
It is our goal to reduce the number of preventable injuries and deaths in our state. In connection with Safe Kids Mississippi, we travel the state supporting community events, and we offer a 32-hour, nationally certified course in child passenger safety. The course is open to the public, and also meets certification requirements for those whose jobs specify it, such as law enforcement, firemen, child care providers, labor and delivery hospitals, and others.
