Staff spotlight

After 45 years of employment with the State of Mississippi, including nine years at the SON, Dotie Stewart has decided to retire at the end of this month. We all celebrate with her but acknowledge that she will be greatly missed.
Stewart joined the UMMC School of Nursing in November of 2014 as an education administrator. She brought with her a vast amount of knowledge and experience from her time at the Board of Nursing. Since that time, Stewart has worked closely with the faculty and students of the RN-BSN Program. She has often been the point of contact for many students over the years, providing both support and encouragement.
She is known for her sweet spirit, smiling face and amazing sense of humor. She brings fun to the average workday. She finds joy in almost everything she does, and her enthusiasm is contagious.
Stewart is a lifelong resident of the Brandon area. She has been happily married to her husband, Tony, for over 40 years. They have two adult children and four grandchildren. She loves to travel and makes frequent trips to the Smoky Mountains and the beaches of South Alabama. Stewart also enjoys shopping and entertaining her grandchildren. She looks forward to spending more time with them once she retires.
