Student Ambassador Spotlight
- What are your interests/hobbies?
- I really enjoy gardening, traveling, attending music festivals, hiking, baking sweets, and creative writing.
- What drew you to become a nurse?
- Since middle school I have had an interest in the medical field. I decided to go into nursing because of the patient interaction. I enjoy the communication I can have with patients and being able to learn from them.
- Why did you choose UMMC School of Nursing?
- I decided to go to UMMC because it is the only level 1 trauma center in the state and was close to home. It has allowed me to work with people from my community and keep friends and family close.
- Where do you want to work after graduation (type nursing/unit)?
- After graduation, I would like to work in the Emergency Department or in a Behavioral Health setting.
- Future educational plans
- In the future, I would like to go back to college to get a DNP degree in psychiatric and mental health.

Ignite Career Fair
The Office of Student Affairs hosted our annual Jackson Ignite Career Fair last month. At UMMC, our undergraduate and graduate students should be exposed to various health care organizations as they develop their career interests. Therefore, we incorporated Ignite yearly into our undergraduate curriculum, and it was opened to all other students enrolled. This year we had over 20 employers from in-state and out-of-state visit our students. The students voted Baptist Memorial Hospital as the “Most Informative Booth” this year. We truly appreciate all of our vendors for participating and visiting with our students regarding their organization and employment opportunities.
