Current Med-Peds Residents

The following are current internal medicine/pediatrics (med/ped) residents in UMMC School of Medicine's Department of Medicine.

Medical School: Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine

Why did you choose UMMC?: I wanted a program that would expose me to a wide variety of pathology, and I felt like Jackson would offer this. Being the only children’s hospital in the state of Mississippi and the diverse patient population UMMC has, I definitely felt like this program would prepare me well to do medical work abroad. Most importantly though, I wanted a program that was supportive with a family-like atmosphere. I wanted a program that had a healthy environment to learn and grow in throughout the next four years.

Career Interest
I am still trying to decide exactly what I want to do, possibly a fellowship. The ultimate goal is to be involved with medical mission work either with Red Cross, Doctors without Borders, or setting up my own organization.

What do you like about the program?
In my free time I love to do just about anything outdoors. I love kayaking, running, and since buying a home I have found I love gardening, so that’s my newest hobby. I really enjoy doing different races: mud runs, color runs, 5ks/10ks, and finally trying to make time for my first half this year.
