Applicant Evaluation and Decisions

In 2010, the leadership of the Association of American Medical Colleges challenged medical schools to transform the admission process in several ways. For example, employ a holistic admissions review that affords each applicant balanced consideration of life experiences, personal attributes, and academic metrics to select not only those who can succeed but those who can help a medical school class drive educational excellence.

To meet this challenge, the University of Mississippi's School of Medicine (SOM) employs the following steps for evaluating applicants through theirĀ American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) application. This process is aligned with the objectives and interests of this medical school.
