Children’s of Mississippi Urgent Care Now Available at Grants Ferry

If your child has a life threating illness or injury, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. Directions to UMMC's Children's Emergency Room. If your child has come into contact with or swallowed a poisonous substance, call poison control at 1-800-222-1222.


Children’s of Mississippi Urgent Care is located at our Grants Ferry location in Flowood. Lab and x-ray services are available on site. Patients up to 18 years old can receive care for:

  • Fever
  • Respiratory illnesses
  • Vomiting
  • Minor cuts and burns
  • Earaches
  • Cough, cold, COVID and flu
  • Rashes
  • Rapid testing is available for COVID, flu, RSV and strep
  • Sprains and minor broken bones

We accept walk-ins and appointments:
Monday - Friday, 8am - 8pm
Saturday - 8am - 2pm
Sunday - 1pm - 7pm

When should I take my child to the Emergency Room vs. Urgent Care?

Emergency Room

  • Severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) 
  • Severe asthma symptoms (trouble breathing)
  • Fever in a child under two months old
  • Bleeding that will not stop 
  • Severe burns and cuts  
  • Poisoning
  • Psychiatric evaluation 
  • Seizure
  • Severe head injury (with loss of consciousness)
  • Sports or motor vehicle injury with neck pain
  • Migraine headache

Urgent Care

  • Newly developed fever, respiratory symptoms and/or sore throat
  • Vomiting and diarrhea
  • Arm pain from a playground fall
  • Minor sprains and strains from sports injuries
  • Earaches and ear drainage
  • Rashes (acute or chronic)
  • Eye redness or drainage
