The Bone Marrow Transplant unit is a twelve bed, private room facility that also includes a family room, kitchen and playroom for our patients.

The family room is furnished to accommodate two or more visitors at a time, so the UMMC BMT visitor’s policy can be followed.

A couch underneath a large screen TV, with a credenza beneath a window.

Our family room has a comfortable sitting area with a large screen TV to provide a relaxing atmosphere for our patients and family members to enjoy during visitation.

Kitchen with a coffee pot, sink, several cabinets and a large ice maker.

The kitchen includes a refrigerator, two freezers, microwave, conventional toaster oven, blenders, coffee pot, ice machine and dish washer for the patient’s and caregiver’s use.

A large stainless steel refrigerator stands next to many cabinets on which are a microwave oven and toaster.

The kitchen is stocked with staples like seasonings, milk, yogurt, juices, popsicles and ice cream. Patients may bring favorite food items to prepare meals to help adequate intake.

Two washer/dryer combinations stand alongside open cabinets and cupboards.

The Laundry Room has two washer/dryer units. Laundry detergent and Clorox are supplied. We ask that the washer/dryer unit be cleaned after each use with cleaning products supplied.

The entry to a patient room shows a closet and a sink near the door.

All patient rooms have an ante room provided for those entering the rooms to wash their hands before entering.

A wide shot of the patient room shows the bed, sofa, chair, desk, cabinets, and rolling try.

All rooms are designed similarly, with adequate closet and storage space to accommodate the patient during their stay.

Next to the bed is a sleeper sofa, pictured here with cushions removed to show the bed inside.

Each room is furnished with a sleeper sofa for the caregiver and visitors.

Beneath the sleeper sofa are storage drawers, pictured here pulled open.

Sleeper sofas feature drawers underneath where personal items may be stored.

Directly next to the bed is pictured an open door to the private bathroom.

The lavatory is provided in the room to promote adequate handwashing. A private restroom adjoins the room.

A colorful playroom is filled with kid-sized furniture, toys and a make-believe kitchen.

The play room has age appropriate furnishings and toys. It is also set up appropriately for teacher/student tutoring if necessary. Per policy, the room is cleaned after each use.
