Neurovascular intervention uses minimally invasive endovascular techniques to treat vascular diseases of the brain. Many patients with conditions that required surgical intervention in the past, such as brain aneurysm, now can be treated with these innovative techniques. A brain aneurysm (also called an intracranial aneurysm or cerebral aneurysm) is a bulging, weakened area in the wall of an artery in the brain, resulting in an abnormal widening or ballooning. This weakened spot in the aneurysm wall poses a risk for rupture (bursting) of the aneurysm.
