The UMMC difference
The University of Mississippi Medical Center's adult emergency department is the only Level I trauma center in Mississippi. We treat over 70,000 adult patients annually, the highest emergency department volume in the state.
Our care team includes board-certified physicians and clinical staff specially trained in emergency medicine. UMMC Emergency Medicine coordinates ER referrals to UMMC from hospitals and clinics across the state and refers patients to the University Physicians network of specialists and other medical providers for follow-up care.
As part of the state's only academic medical center, UMMC Emergency Medicine offers high-quality emergency medical and trauma care, provides training to medical residents and medical students, and conducts state-of-the-art clinical research in emergency medicine.
