Children's Complex Care

Main Content

Children living with chronic medical conditions or facing a serious illness often must visit multiple specialists to manage their health. The Children's of Mississippi Complex Care Clinic coordinates care for kids with chronic and/or multiple medical conditions. We work with patients' primary care physicians to coordinate care, or for patients seeking a medical home, we can also serve as a primary care provider.

  • Connects and coordinates medical care, mental health care, social workers, teachers, and other stakeholders
  • Organizes appointments across multiple subspecialties
  • Supports the physical, mental, and emotional needs of children and their families
  • Provides access to community-based services
  • Manages orders and therapy services, including medical equipment
  • Works directly with primary care physicians to ensure continuous care

Our services benefit patients and families by:

  • Improving quality of care and quality of life
  • Decreasing hospitalization and emergency room visits
  • Improving the healthcare experience

Inpatient care

The Complex Care Clinic also cares for children admitted to the hospital. Our inpatient care is guided by pediatric hospitalists (physicians who specialize in caring for hospitalized children). Our nurse practitioners see patients in the hospital and at the clinic, providing continuous care after discharge.

Palliative care

Palliative care seeks to make a particularly stressful illness or injury easier to cope with. It is typically recommended for patients undergoing difficult medical treatments or facing a terminal illness. We provide consultation and coordinate medical and/or counseling services to help manage physical and emotional distress for patients and their families.
