Children's Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology

Main Content

Children's of Mississippi allergists and immunologists are board-certified in the diagnosis and treatment of allergies, asthma, and other diseases of the immune system. Whether a child needs relief from pet or dust allergies or parents need help managing a child's food allergy or asthma, our team can help.

Allergies

Allergies are what happens when our immune system fights foreign bodies like pet dander, foods, even materials like latex or a new laundry detergent. Allergic reactions may be annoying, like a runny nose caused by seasonal allergies, or potentially harmful, like anaphylaxis caused by a food allergy. Allergists at Children's of Mississippi work with families to help lessen the symptoms - and concerns - that come with allergies in children.

Asthma

The same substances that cause allergies can also trigger asthma symptoms. As with allergies, asthma symptoms are the body's response to a foreign substance, but with asthma, the reaction affects a child's lungs and airways, causing an asthma attack.

Immunology

Immunology is the branch of the medicine dealing with the immune system, which defends your child’s body from disease and infection.
