Physics Course:
The annual Physics Course, led by Professor Claus Yang, PhD., occurs on Fridays from 7-8 AM throughout the year for PGY-2, PGY-3, and PGY-4 residents.
Radiation Biology Course:
This course is conducted weekly throughout the year for PGY-2, PGY-3, and PGY-4 residents by Professor Pier Paolo Claudio MD,PhD.
Clinical Lecture Series:
This year-long, faculty-driven lecture series runs in conjunction with the resident lecture series, covers treatment planning, surgical techniques, brachytherapy planning, and case-based “oral board” style reviews. These lectures are delivered by radiation oncology faculty and invited faculty from other departments such as urology, neurosurgery, otolaryngology, and medical oncology.
Visiting Faculty Series:
Each year, the department invites 2-3 experts in radiation oncology from other institutions for guest lectures and resident interaction.
Resident Wellbeing:
Ensuring the holistic wellbeing of our residents is paramount at our radiation oncology residency program. We foster a supportive environment where residents are encouraged to engage socially, connect with peers, and build meaningful relationships. Recognizing the challenges that may arise, we emphasize the importance of mental and emotional well-being, providing accessible resources for support and assistance when needed, such as RISE and TELUS Health EAP. Our commitment to resident wellness is ingrained in our program's ethos, prioritizing a balanced approach to professional growth and personal fulfillment. Outings have included bowling, golfing, and escape rooms.
