Division of Sleep Medicine Home
Sleep medicine is a medical specialty dedicated to helping those who have problems with sleeping or during sleep. Sleep disorders can include trouble falling or staying asleep, narcolepsy or sleeping too much, sleep apnea, restless legs syndrome, sleepwalking, and other abnormal sleep behaviors.
The Sleep Disorders Center at UMMC provides comprehensive diagnostic evaluation of persons with suspected sleep disorders and the full range of treatments available to reverse or improve diagnosed sleep disorders. The center has the longest-standing accreditation in Mississippi by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). Here, our residents are able to gain an appreciation for the critical role that sleep can play in many psychiatric disorders and the complexities inherent in the diagnosis of sleep disorders.
