Biography Information
I am an Indian born and raised in the UAE who graduated medical school from Tribhuvan University in Nepal. After my wedding, I moved to the US, graduated with an MPH degree from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center and worked for the State health department in Colorado where I lived with my husband and 2 dogs (an ardent animal lover I am!!) Living amongst people from different economic and cultural backgrounds all my life, and being a doctor and a public health professional at the same time, I consider myself to be in a fortunate position to assess and understand differences in healthcare access among people from different ethno-racial as well as socio-economic backgrounds. Moving to Mississippi for my residency gave me a broader perspective about the health of Mississippians and their health needs. I am particularly drawn to obesity medicine as well as LGBTQ health to mention a few areas of interest in the public health realm. I also love traveling, seeing new places especially scenic ones! I am into running and going on long scenic hikes with friends and family. I also love food (I do not cook all that much, I leave that to my husband); and chocolates in particular make me happy!
