UMMC is known for its heavy trauma and operative experience being the only Level I trauma center in Mississippi, but what really impressed me is that they also have an outstanding didactics program to complement what residents learn in the OR. Residents who graduate from UMMC are well prepared to either enter practice or obtain competitive fellowships. Dr. Graves has a great vision for the program and is dedicated to resident education. Most importantly, I felt that the attendings and current residents involved with the program were genuine, down-to-earth people who I would enjoy getting to work with over the next 5 years.
