Main ContentWelcome from the Program Director
Welcome to the Medicine/Pediatrics (Med/Peds) residency program at UMMC. We hope you will take this opportunity to learn more about our program and the training opportunities here. For over 20 years, we have built a combined residency program that excels in both adult and pediatric clinical training while also providing an individualized, cohesive experience for each resident based on their career plans, professional needs and personal goals.
Our program is fully integrated with our categorical internal medicine and pediatric programs and benefits from a diverse inpatient and outpatient patient population encompassing normal growth and development, acute care, and the management of complex medical conditions. We have top-notch facilities, including a multi-disciplinary clinic, state-of-the-art adult hospital, women's and infants' hospital, neonatal ICU, pediatric ICU, adult critical care tower, separate adult and pediatric emergency departments, and a robust basic science and clinical research program.
We firmly believe that the key to producing successful Med/Peds physicians is a concern for the entirety of a resident's life, not just his performance at the hospital or in the clinic. Our residents and their families are very important to the program leadership, faculty, and other residents. This focus on community and family has allowed our residents to achieve personal well-being while pursuing professional growth during the residency and to be prepared for the challenges of further fellowship training, academic practice, private practice or hospitalist.
Please take some time to look at our website and follow us on social media. We would love for you to consider taking a closer look at our people, the program and Jackson. Thank you again for considering us for your residency training family.
