Welcome from Our Division Director
Welcome to the Division of Geriatrics at UMMC, where we are dedicated to advancing the health and well-being of our senior citizens across the state.
Our comprehensive treatment services, including consultative and primary care clinics, address a wide range of age-related issues such as cognitive impairment, osteoporosis, and medication management. The MIND Center, led by Dr. Thomas Mosley, stands as a beacon of innovation, focusing on groundbreaking research to unravel the complexities of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. With more than $15 million in active federal grants, our research initiatives are at the forefront of understanding and treating cognitive decline. Joining our team means becoming part of a pioneering effort to change the landscape of geriatric care through cutting-edge research and clinical excellence.
Our faculty are not only leaders in their clinical fields but also dedicated educators who strive to instill a deep understanding of geriatric care in the next generation of healthcare providers. We are proud to offer a supportive and collaborative environment where teaching, research, and clinical practice intersect, empowering our team to make a significant impact on the lives of our patients.
Additionally, our commitment to patient-centered care extends to telemedicine with the TeleMIND Clinic, which brings specialized dementia care to underserved populations, particularly in rural areas. We believe that healthcare should be accessible to everyone, and our dedicated faculty and advanced practice providers play a crucial role in making that a reality.
We also recognize the importance of a holistic approach to aging. Our services include comprehensive dementia diagnosis and care, community education, as well as caregiver education and support groups, all aimed at addressing the comprehensive needs of our patients.
Thank you for your interest in our division. As geriatricians, we seek to serve the people of Mississippi both now and in the future.
