Main ContentEarly Decision Program
Students interested in early acceptance may apply for admission under the Early Decision Program (EDP). Two important aspects of the EDP should be understood: (1) the applicant can apply to only the one school of choice until a decision is received and, if accepted, must attend that school; (2) if not accepted under the EDP, the applicant may automatically be reconsidered as an Regular Decision Program (RDP) applicant by that school and may then apply to other schools.
Since EDP decisions are rendered before most RDP applications are reviewed, only above-average applicants are competitive for the EDP. Only a student who has an undergraduate biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics (BCPM) cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.6, overall GPA of 3.7 and Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) of 504 or higher will be considered for EDP.
Students who have already completed more than 20 hours of graduate BCPM coursework and have above a 3.60 graduate BCPM may also apply EDP with a Medical College Admission Test (MCAT2015) of 504 or higher.
Both AMCAS and UMMC require receipt of specific documents by specified deadlines; click here for details. Applicants wishing to apply for the EDP must submit an online AMCAS application and transcripts of all undergraduate and post-baccalaureate work to AAMC between June 1 and Aug. 1.
In addition, by Aug. 1 EDP applicants must release MCAT scores, upload a passport-style photograph through the WebAdmitApplicant Portal and by August 15th submit an online Secondary Application through the Applicant Portal and transcripts of all undergraduate and post-baccalaureate work to the Office of Student Records and Registrar and three faculty letters of evaluation. A final decision on EDP applications will be rendered on or before Oct. 1.
