Outstanding Presentation by a Mid-Career Scholar
On May 21, 2026, Drs. Kristen J. Alston and Timothy Dasinger presented “Medical Students’ Perceptions of M1 Bootcamp: Transition to Medical School” at the 2026 Southern Group on Educational Affairs (SGEA) Conference in New Orleans, LA. The presentation received the 2026 Medical Education Scholarship Award (MESA) for Outstanding Presentation by a Mid-Career Scholar. The award-winning work showcases innovative educational initiatives currently being implemented through the UMMC School of Medicine Office of Medical Education including the M1 Bootcamp program designed to support students’ transition into medical school. The project was developed through the collaborative efforts of Kristen J. Alston, PhD, Demondes Haynes, MD, Timothy Dasinger, PhD, Nathan Tullos, PhD; Dakota Bibbs, EdD, David Norris, MD, and Loretta Jackson, MD, PhD.
