Behind Every Great Lecture

A successful lecture begins well before the first student walks into the classroom. While faculty members prepare content and draw from years of clinical expertise, the Office of Medical Education coordinates the behind-the-scenes efforts that help each session run smoothly. The week of June 16-20, UMMC School of Medicine welcomed students who have earned early assurance admission through the Promoting Recruitment Opportunities in Medicine with Individual Study Experiences (PROMISE) Program. Dr. Dan Coleman gives more details about the week.

Upcoming SOM Faculty Development Sessions

The School of Medicine (SOM) and the Department of Advanced Medical Education have collaborated again this year to develop the 2026 SOM Annual Faculty Development Series. This series provides one-hour sessions throughout the year on topics that aim to enhance teaching and learning, and the academic environment. These virtual sessions are held at noon and highlight the expertise and research of SOM faculty as well as faculty from other institutions. Select presentations will offer an in-person version.
