Rowland Medical Library Spotlights: ClinicalKey Interface Updates
ClinicalKey provides fast, evidence‑based medical information that supports teaching, patient care, and scholarly work. The platform recently introduced a redesigned interface that improves navigation and overall user experience. One of the most significant updates is the ability for users to choose between two distinct portals: Study Resources and Clinical References.
The new Study Resources portal is designed specifically for medical students, offering access to more than 100 curated textbook titles—from foundational basic science texts to clinical clerkship essentials and USMLE Step preparation. This portal also introduces learning tools such as offline book downloads, read‑aloud functionality, note‑taking, highlighting, and automatic syncing through the new ClinicalKey Student Bookshelf App.
The Clinical References portal continues to serve as Elsevier’s comprehensive resource for clinicians, providing access to books, journal articles, clinical overviews, procedure videos, calculators, drug information, guidelines, images, and patient education materials.
All UMMC affiliates can access to ClinicalKey both on and off-campus. Users are encouraged to create a personal ClinicalKey account and log in with each use. While institutional access allows basic browsing, a personal login is required to access advanced tools—including the ClinicalKey Student Bookshelf App—and enables features such as saved content, presentation maker, and personalized resource organization.
