Preclinical Curriculum Inventory Now Available to All Faculty

We are pleased to announce that all School of Medicine faculty members now have access to the Preclinical Curriculum Inventory. This interactive resource provides a convenient way to explore the content currently taught across the preclinical curriculum and identify where topics, concepts, and objectives appear across courses.

Faculty members who teach one or more sessions can use the inventory to review their own curricular contributions and see how their content relates to material taught elsewhere in the curriculum. They can also research what students have previously been taught within a subject area and what additional education they will receive later in the curriculum.

The inventory can be filtered using slicers for M1 or M2 year, course, and content tag. It also supports multiple simultaneous keyword searches, allowing users to search for several related terms at once and identify the sessions or objectives in which those terms appear.

The inventory may be especially helpful when developing or revising a session, examining the sequencing of content, or determining where a topic is introduced, reinforced, or applied. It is intended to make the curriculum more transparent and help faculty members place their teaching within the broader context of the preclinical educational program.

Access the Preclinical Curriculum Inventory through SharePoint.

The SharePoint site also includes many guides that contain other useful information and resources related to the School of Medicine curriculum. The site is available to all School of Medicine faculty members.

When accessing the site or opening the inventory, faculty members must sign in using their UMMC credentials. Personal Microsoft accounts or other email addresses will not provide access.

The inventory will be updated periodically to reflect changes to course schedules, session information, and curricular objectives. Because updates are periodic rather than immediate, very recent changes may not appear right away.

Faculty members who would like to view the inventory on a phone or tablet may also install the Microsoft Power BI mobile app for iOS or Android. After signing in with their UMMC credentials, they can access the Preclinical Curriculum Inventory through the app. Mobile access is optional; the inventory can also be opened through the SharePoint site in a web browser.
