2025 AAMC Graduation Questionnaire Highlights

Each year, students graduating from MD programs in schools of medicine in the United States are asked to complete a Graduation Questionnaire (GQ) by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). The Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), the accrediting organization for medical education programs, expects the results of the GQ in addition to other data gathered by the School of Medicine (SOM) to be available to the school to make data-based decisions and improvements. Dr. Lecretia Buckley explains the results in more depth.

IMPACT the Race 1.0 – Project Summary

In the summer of 2020, the School of Medicine was awarded a four-year grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The primary aim of the award focused on rural medical education, with Dr. Loretta Jackson-Williams and Dr. David Norris serving as the project’s co-directors. Through this grant, the SOM developed the IMPACT the RACE (Improved Primary Care for the Rural Community Through Medical Education) program (ItR) to enhance the education of medical students about the health needs of rural communities and encourage students to choose residencies in primary care, with consideration of a career in rural underserved communities in Mississippi. Rural Medicine Education Symposium: The Rural Impact 2026

The University of Mississippi School of Medicine IMPACT the RACE (ItR) will host the fifth annual Rural Medicine Education Symposium – The Rural Impact 2026. ItR a Health Resources & Services Administration grant funded project, is geared to enhance rural medical education for students, with the goal to increase primary care physicians throughout rural communities in Mississippi. Better Teams, Better Care: The Role of IPE in Medical Education

Interprofessional Education (IPE) in the School of Medicine prepares students to deliver patient-centered care by learning with other health professions. In the preclinical curriculum, students are introduced to core IPE competencies through didactic sessions in the Introduction to the Medical Profession courses. Dr. David Norris and Leah Stanford give an in-depth description of how medical students progress from recognizing complex problems to managing them collaboratively.

New School of Medicine Committee

The Performance Improvement Committee (PIC) is charged to monitor the processes and policies that impact the medical education program and compliance with the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) accreditation standards and elements. Dr. Lecretia Buckley gives more insight into the purpose and function of this new committee.

Editing Media in Canvas Studio

Canvas Studio is a built-in video repository available in all Canvas courses, offering faculty and students a convenient way to store, manage, and share media. One of its key advantages is that Studio libraries have no storage limits, allowing instructors to reserve course file space for other materials while keeping their videos organized and accessible.
