Rowland Medical Library Spotlights: Springer Protocols

By: Dr. Sarah Adcock

When planning laboratory experiments, researchers - from students to seasoned faculty- must find suitable protocols to inform their study design. Protocols can guide the study and keep researchers updated on the latest advances in methodologies, including innovative technologies and cutting-edge techniques.

Springer Protocols, produced by Springer Nature, is now available to all UMMC affiliates through a recently added Rowland Medical Library subscription. It offers comprehensive, reproducible protocols that enhance research efficiency and education in the biomedical and life sciences. These protocols, considered stand-alone scientific articles, provide detailed context and methodology with precise, chronological steps. The detailed materials, methods, and notes sections can save researchers significant time and effort. This resource helps students build confidence in their experimental skills and understand the importance of reproducibility in scientific research.
