New faculty join UMMC academic ranks
Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.
Dr. Debolina Chatterjee

Dr. Debolina Chatterjee, who recently completed a postdoctoral fellowship in biostatistics and health data science at the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, has joined the Medical Center faculty as instructor of data science in the John D. Bower School of Population Health.
After earning the Master of Science in Statistics from the University of Calcutta in Kolkata, India, Chatterjee earned the Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematical Sciences (statistics track) in 2022 at Purdue University in Indianapolis. She has been recognized many times for her academic achievements and teaching excellence.
An applied statistician with expertise in analyzing complex systems, she was also an instructor for several years at Purdue and at Indiana University. As a researcher, she is the co-author of various published scientific articles and has participated in numerous national and international scientific conferences, meetings and presentations.
Chatterjee is a member of the American Statistical Association and the Eastern North American Region of the International Biometric Society.

Dr. Jennie Katherine Lofton

Dr. Jennie Katherine Lofton, recently a practicing psychiatrist at the G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Jackson, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of medicine in the School of Medicine.
After earning her medical degree from UMMC in 2017, Lofton completed her residency in adult psychiatry in 2021 at the Medical Center, where she was recognized for her excellence as a trainee.
Board-certified in psychiatry, she also practiced as a psychiatrist at Alliance Health Center in Meridian.
As a researcher, Lofton has participated in several scientific presentations.
