Kathleen M. Young, PhD, MPH
  • Dr. Young is a licensed clinical health psychologist and assistant professor in the UMMC Department of Family Medicine. As director of the JGGCSC, she works with faculty and other interested individuals in developing activities utilizing standardized patients (SPs). Through case and script writing, developing learning objectives and assessment measures, and facilitating the structure and timing of SP activities, Dr. Young strives to fulfill the needs of individuals and groups wanting to use SP methodology as an innovative assessment and educational tool. She is also available to provide one-on-one support and guidance to individuals needing help with refining interpersonal and interprofessional communication skills.
Deborah Newell

  • Deborah joined the JGGCSC staff in October 2005, just after the program moved to facilities in the Jackson Medical Mall. She is involved in the day-to-day operation of the JGGCSC.  
Paula Rutledge
Program Administrator
  • Paula became part of the JGGCSC team in December 2004 as a standardized patient and took an administrative position in February 2007. As program administrator, she is involved in the daily operation of the center.
