The PGY-2 Pediatric residency is a new 12-month postgraduate program offered at UMMC for 2024. The program will allow residents to build on foundational knowledge from PGY-1 residency experiences to develop specialized skills in the area of pediatric pharmacy. The resident will function independently as a member of interdisciplinary healthcare teams while optimizing and advancing pharmaceutical care for pediatric patients.
The University of Mississippi Medical Center includes a tertiary care hospital near downtown Jackson and serves the entire state of Mississippi as the largest diagnostic, treatment, and referral care system in the state. UMMC offers the only Level I trauma center, the only organ transplant programs and is the only teaching hospital in the state, in addition to Children's of Mississippi, Mississippi's only hospital solely dedicated to caring for children. It is home to the state's sole pediatric emergency room, pediatric intensive care unit, Level IV neonatal intensive care unit, and cardiac surgery program for congenital heart conditions.
Additional pharmacy residency programs are offered by the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy.
