Main ContentBeautiful Skin: Cosmetic Dermatology
At the Face and Skin Center, we offer the latest technologies in cosmetic dermatology. Here, all care is backed by the state’s only academic medical center and our board-certified dermatologists perform all injections. Our highly trained registered nurses perform many of our laser procedures and chemical peels, with oversight from our dermatologists. Our team of medically trained professionals will listen to your concerns and work closely with you to give you results you’ll love.
Injectable treatments
Our dermatologists use injectable treatments to minimize and smooth fine lines and wrinkles and restore volume where it has been depleted. Our goal is to help our patients achieve a more youthful, well rested appearance and achieve balance, proportion and harmony.
Because we use several different types of injectables, our staff can recommend the treatment most likely to give you optimal results. Injectable treatments we offer include:
- Juvederm®
- Volbella®
- Restylane®
- Voluma ®
- Botox®
- Dysport®
- Kybella®
- Platelet rich plasma (PRP)
Advanced skin treatments
In some cases, the best approach for skin rejuvenation may be treatments that go deeper into the skin’s layers. These treatments can address conditions such as acne scars, age spots, wrinkles, sun damage, aging and discoloration.
Our team will talk with you about your goals to determine the treatment that makes the most sense for you. Advanced skin treatments we offer include:
Chemical Peels: In this procedure, a chemical solution is applied to the skin that causes it to eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother, more evenly pigmented, and less wrinkled.
Microneedling: Also called collagen induction therapy, in this procedure the face is pricked with hundreds of sticks from tiny, sterile needles. The skin reacts with an increased production of collagen which provides more structure and support for the skin.
Intense pulsed light treatments (IPL): This treatment harnesses specific wavelengths of light to target specific areas within the skin. It can be used to treat conditions such as dark spots from sun damage, redness from rosacea, birth marks, broken capillaries, fine wrinkles and spider veins.
Microdermabrasion: In this procedure, an abrasive instrument is used to gently “sand” the skin, exfoliating and smoothing the skin’s texture. .
Pulsed dye laser: This laser is ideal for vascular lesions such as cherry angiomas (red bumps that appear with age), port wine stains, rosacea, and dilated blood vessels on the face.
Fractionated CO2 laser for skin resurfacing: In this procedure, a laser is used to resurface the skin using small columns of laser energy, leaving surrounding skin intact. This improves age spots, fine lines, wrinkles, scarring and discoloration.
Platelet rich plasma (PRP): PRP involves withdrawing a patient’s own blood, processing it so that only the enriched PRP cells remain and applying that plasma to the skin. PRP contains a high concentration of natural growth factors and essential proteins that stimulate the healing process and creation of collagen. In this way, PRP softens wrinkles and evens out texture and tone. It can also be injected into the scalp to promote hair growth.
