Therapeutic Potential of Beta Hydroxybutyrate in MASLD-induced Cardiovascular Disease Image Long Description

Overview

Restoring plasma beta hydroxybutyrate levels by administration of 1,3 butanediol (ketone supplement), improves arterial blood pressure, exercise tolerance, systolic, diastolic, and vascular functions in MASLD-induced CVD. Hence, restoring plasma BHOB could be a potential therapeutic treatment for CVDs in MASLD.

Presentation

The graphic is in a square box.

  • At the top left is an illustration of a mouse with liver in it. The mouse has an arrow pointing to its liver with the label ‘treatment with 1,3-butanediol’ and a down arrow indicating BHOB.

  • A block arrow from the mouse point to a rectangle with the term cardiac lipid. Another arrow point from cardiac lipid to ROS.

  • An arrow pointing from ROS on the left hand-side goes to a square termed fibrosis and the arrow pointing from ROS on the right-hand side goes to apoptotic image.

  • An arrow from fibrosis goes to blood pressure image termed hypertension and another arrow from hypertension points to apoptosis.

  • Arrows from hypertension and apoptosis joins together and points down to a red star labelled heart failure, vascular injury. Beside the star on the right are the images of human heart and blood vessel.
