Research and Personal Statement
Madison grew up in Prattville, AL and ventured to Mississippi in 2013 to begin her studies at Mississippi College, where she eventually obtained her B.S. in Biology Medical Sciences and her M.S. in the same field. While a student at Mississippi College, Madison studied under the guidance of Dr. Hanna Broome where she looked at the effects of high salt diets on reproductive patterns in Drosophila melanogaster. Currently, Madison is a PhD student in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at UMMC, and she is a member of the Speed Lab where she studies inflammation in adipose tissue and its effect on insulin resistance. Madison enjoys going to the gym, cooking all the things, and hanging with her friends. She is excited to continue her education with the hopes of teaching one day.
