| Collection Information: | No special patient preparation is required. Tube must be full and collected after another tube. If only collecting a blue top, draw a red top first and discard, then collect the blue top. Invert immediately and gently mix with anticoagulant. |
| Transport Information: | Deliver to the lab at room temperature within 1 hour of collection. |
| Reference Clients: | If unable to deliver within 1 hour, centrifuge, remove the plasma, and freeze. |
| Causes for Rejection: | Improperly labeled, incorrect container, contaminated, insufficient quantity, incorrect/delay in transport, or grossly hemolyzed. |
| Reference Range: | Low Molecular Weight Heparin therapeutic range: 0.6 – 1.0 IU/mL |
Unfractionated Heparin therapeutic range: 0.3 – 0.7 IU/mL |
