Why did you choose UMMC?:
I was drawn to UMMC for its high-volume trauma experience, progressive autonomy, and strong resident culture. I like that residents are given real responsibility while still being well supported. The diversity and complexity of the patient population in Mississippi is also a big draw for me. Overall, it feels like a place where I’d get strong training and be part of a mission-driven environment.
Biography Information:
Lake is a South Alabama native who grew up on a crop and cattle farm in Conecuh County. After two years of junior college baseball, he transferred to Auburn University, where he completed a degree in biomedical sciences. He later attended the University of South Alabama College of Medicine, where he earned his medical degree. Outside of medicine, he is an avid hunter and enjoys sports and spending time with his wife and family.
