Orthopaedic library

ortho---library.jpgThe M. Beckett Howorth Orthopaedic Surgery Library is maintained by the department. It houses more than 600 volumes and subscribes to more than 45 of the leading orthopaedic journals. The library also maintains current orthopaedic literature from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons on a monthly basis.

This library serves the department and supplements both the Orthopaedic Surgery Resident Conference Center library and the Rowland Medical Library in the area of orthopaedic surgery. The library also houses more than 100 video tapes from both seminars and the Academy regarding orthopaedic surgery.

The library is complete with study area, TV, VCR-DVD, and a computer on the UMMC network for searching capabilities through the National Library of Medicine and our own Rowland Medical Library.

Orthopaedic classroom

ortho---classroom.jpgThe department's orthopedic classroom is a state-of-the art location for our educational conferences and grand rounds. It includes an X-ray view bank, digital video camera, multimedia projector, along with a complete sound and video system to support the VCR, DVD and PC housed in the multimedia lectern. These facilities enable residents and faculty full use of the UMMC computer network and access to any media for teaching purposes.

Orthopaedic skills lab

ortho---skills-lab.jpgThe department's skills lab is a quiet place to study. It is complete with computers that enable residents to have access to e-mail, Internet, online learning (AAOS Orthopedic Knowledge Update) and course CD-ROMs. The lab is set up for sawbones workstations with a TV/VCR to complete visual learning with hands-on activity. The residents also have access to scanners and X-ray digitizing equipment. This area also houses residents' mailboxes and lockers.

Orthopaedic on-call rooms

ortho---oncall.jpgUniversity of Mississippi Medical Center, along with the Graduate Medical Education Office, provide our orthopaedic residents with two private on-call rooms. Each room, H603 and H615, have private sleep and bath facilities, with LCD TVs, cable and a telephone. Room H615 has a computer and study library provided by our department.

Both rooms are located in the 6 East on-call facilities floor where other departments have similar on-call rooms provided.
