Welcome to the University of Mississippi Medical Center Division of Rheumatology and Molecular Immunology. As director of the UMMC Department of Medicine’s Division of Rheumatology and Molecular Immunology, I am honored to work with a devoted group of talented faculty, advanced practice practitioners, fellows, nurses and staff, all who are committed to state-of-the-art Rheumatology patient care. In the past five years, our division has grown substantially to meet the increasing need for rheumatology specialists. We plan for continued growth and recruitment in the future.
As such, we are committed to statewide initiatives to battle major chronic diseases, including the diabetes epidemic, osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease, and chronic thyroid conditions. Our division provides excellent clinical care with outpatient and inpatient consultative services in diabetes management, thyroid disorders, bone and calcium metabolism, pituitary and adrenal disorders, obesity, and all types of subspecialty endocrine disorders.
The Rheumatology Fellowship is dedicated to developing competent rheumatologists who embrace lifelong learning by providing excellent rheumatology training and education in a holistic and scholarly environment. Currently recognized as one of the largest and most qualified university-based rheumatology groups in the region, we continue to strive for excellence in clinical care, education, scholarship and research.
The five board-certified academic rheumatologists and four fellows make up the Division of Rheumatology and Molecular Immunology which continues to be recognized regionally and nationally for numerous educational and scientific presentations, abstracts, publications, book chapters and committee appointments.
UMMC Rheumatology is dedicated to training both present and future generations of specialists, while also pursuing ground-breaking treatments. We strive toward increasing the prevention of endocrine and metabolic disorders. Our commitment is to provide these services while also prioritizing the patient care experience, ensuring our patients receive thorough and compassionate care.
Our faculty and fellows provide consultative services at the University Hospital, the University of Mississippi Medical Pavilion, and the G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery VA Medical Center. We support regional continuing educational conferences and arrange for regular multi-institutional collaborative educational sessions. We emphasize an interdisciplinary, culturally competent, and patient-focused approach, providing care to rheumatology patients in order to serve the citizens of the state of Mississippi as well as the surrounding region.
We welcome your interest in our division!
