How to Apply

Application Process

The University of Mississippi Medical Center Infectious Diseases Fellowship participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and accepts applications exclusively through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Only electronic applications submitted via ERAS are accepted. We do not review paper or emailed applications.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine residency by the start of fellowship
  • Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Mississippi
  • U.S. citizens, permanent residents and J-1 visa applicants are accepted
    (Our institution has a strong track record of sponsoring and supporting international medical graduates.)

Required Application Materials

A complete ERAS application should include:

  • ERAS application form
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Personal statement
  • Medical school transcript
  • USMLE or COMLEX score reports
  • Three letters of recommendation (including one from your Program Director)
  • ECFMG certification (if applicable)

Interview Selection

Completed applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Selected applicants will be invited for interviews, which are currently conducted virtually. Interview days include:

  • Meetings with faculty and program leadership
  • Virtual tour and overview of the training site
  • Discussion with current fellows
