Hello, and welcome to the Family Medicine Residency Program at the University of Mississippi Medical Center! We, the chief residents for the 2024-2025 academic year, are excited and honored to have you join our residency family.

Our program is unique in many ways. We take pride in the diversity that our program has from the faculty to the office staff to the residents. Our location, Jackson, Mississippi, allows us to serve underserved communities that are in need of healthcare. The program offers opportunities to help us be more involved in the community and to serve outside of the clinic and hospital. Our faculty is also wonderful and has different perspectives which allows residents to learn many different techniques of practicing medicine.

We are both so excited to be able to serve all of those involved in our program this year, and we are deeply honored for the trust that has been placed in us to handle this task. We hope to be a resource and advocate for our residents.

When talking to former residents, they all agreed on one aspect of our program: You are exposed to such unique pathology and excellent instruction here that you will be equipped to practice in any healthcare setting in the future.

Being able to learn in Mississippi's only medical academic center and Level 1 trauma center contributes to the uniqueness of our medical training. Our program also provides research opportunities, and residents have the opportunity to present at national conferences.

In addition, our department emphasizes wellness and family. Your loved ones will be welcomed into our community. We truly are a family here at UMMC.

We are thrilled about your interest in our program and consideration in choosing us for your Family Medicine training. We can't wait for the potential opportunity to meet you and to share even more about our program!

Thank you,

Anna and Kiara
