Message from the Chief Residents
Welcome to the Family Medicine Residency Program at the University of Mississippi Medical Center!
We're honored to serve as your chief residents for the 2025–2026 academic year, and we will work to advocate for each cohort and serve as a resource for communication between residents and leadership.
Our program is defined by its strong sense of community, exceptional clinical training, and commitment to acceptance and belonging. Located in the heart of Jackson, we offer a rich training environment rooted in caring for underserved populations, supported by skilled and passionate faculty.
Throughout your training, you'll encounter a wide breadth of pathology and develop the skills needed to provide compassionate, evidence-based care. Our curriculum will prepare you for any career path within the scope of Family Medicine, with opportunities for research and mentorship that support scholarly growth and presentations at regional and national conferences.
We also recognize the importance of physician wellness and work-life integration. Throughout the year, we will host a variety of events to promote resident well-being, including retreats, annual holiday parties, and wellness days dedicated to rest and personal activities to cultivate your best self.
In prior years, we have focused on continued academic improvement as well as recruiting the best and brightest to join our program. We hope to carry this forward while also embracing the scope of the family physician in the hospital setting, as we transition our inpatient service to UMMC Madison. We hope you, too, are excited to train in a new environment and develop inpatient skills with a fresh perspective compared to prior years.
Finally, we are grateful for the opportunity to serve in leadership this year, and we are committed to supporting your growth and success during your time with us. Thank you to our co-residents, faculty, and staff who make this program so special. We're excited for the year ahead and honored to serve alongside you.
